Advisor Office Response to COVID-19

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Advisor Office for Alberta Workers’ Compensation has taken some precautionary measures to reduce risk and ensure the safety of both its clients and employees. Both the Edmonton and Calgary locations of our office will be closed to the public until further notice. Advisor Office staff members will be working remotely which may cause delays in communication to our clients or processing requests for services. We remain available to provide service from 8:15am to 4:30pm weekdays, and can be contacted toll-free at 1(866) 427-0115 or by email at advisoroffice@gov.ab.ca.

Advisor Services

If you disagree with a decision made by the WCB, we may be able to help.

We provide a range of services to workers and employers covered by the WCB, to help them appeal WCB decisions.

These services were previously delivered to workers by the WCB’s Office of the Appeals Advisor and the Fair Practices Office. The Advisor Office for Alberta Workers’ Compensation has taken responsibility for these services.

Workers and employers can now both benefit from the same types of advice, assistance and advocacy services, independent from the WCB.

There are two types of appeals advisors. They work independently of each other based on the type of client.

  • Worker Advisors provide support and advice to injured workers who need help with reviews and appeals related to a WCB claim.
  • Employer Advisors provide support and advice to employers who need help with reviews and appeals related to a WCB claim.

There are time limits to appeal a decision. You need to be within these time limits in order for us to help you with an appeal.

You can fill out our online form and someone will contact you. Or, you can contact us.
