What questions might your Employer Advisor ask you about claim acceptance?
- What are your concerns with this situation?
- What are the details around the accident?
- What was the worker doing at the time of the accident?
- Where did the accident occur? If not on your premises, what is the relationship of the site/location they were at to their employment?
- Were there any witnesses to the accident?
- When did the accident occur?
- When did you become aware of the accident?
- What injury did the worker suffer?
- What is the mechanism of injury?
- Did the worker seek medical attention after the accident?
- If the injury is progressive, how long have they been in this position? What are the primary job duties? Have there been any recent changes to their duties, hours of work, workload, etc.?
- Did you offer modified work? If not, why (i.e., failed drug and alcohol test, worker didn’t advise you of their restrictions, etc.)?
- When did you offer modified work? Was the offer in writing?
- Is the offer for modified work within the worker’s restrictions?
- Was there a confirmed employment hazard by WCB? If so, what is it?
- Did the worker have a similar injury before?
- Did the worker have any other injuries or pre-existing conditions (whether related or not)?
- Was the activity that caused the injury for the purpose of work?
- Are you aware of any hobbies or activities the worker may have outside of work that could have contributed to the injury?
- Does the worker have a concurrent job?

- Signed written witness statements from anyone who may have witnessed the accident
